A fine of 20.5 million rupees has been imposed on a group of Sri Lankan fishermen for violating Seychelles maritime borders. Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Seychelles said that their boats have also been confiscated by the Courts. Issuing a statement Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Seychelles Dr. Tikiri Herath Gunatilaka said that international maritime borders should not be violated when engaged in fishing. The Seychelles Government said that large fines have been imposed on all fishing craft that violated their maritime borders.
