The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Representative for Eastern Africa, Mr Amado Phillip De Andres, called on the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit and Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, on 27 April 2018, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis. In a statement Mr Andres underlined that discussions with the Prime Minister focused on drug trafficking and transnational crime as well as the ways to address challenges pertaining to the drug scourge. He underscored the need to strengthen collaboration with Government and for Mauritius to translate into real substantive actions the support being provided by the UNODC. Moreover, the UNODC Regional Representative recalled the role and position of his organisation in the Global Maritime Crime Programme and underlined its support to regional coordination centres. He also took stock of progress in the finalisation of the National Drug Control Master Plan. (…)
