On 1 February 2018, the Japanese Parliament approved the draft Supplementary Budget for the 2017 fiscal year (…). In this context, two projects will be implemented in the Republic of Djibouti. In the amount of US $ 500,000, the first project focuses on supporting the Regional Maritime Training Center (MFRC) in the implementation of its training offerings, to enhance in this way the level of effectiveness of a concerted response against acts of piracy and illicit maritime activities in the Western Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. (…) The second project will cost US $ 1,500,000 and concerns the protection of Djibouti’s borders in the context of the threat of terrorism, smuggling of irregular migrants and other forms of transnational crime.
